Questions cake makers ask
What do I see in a request?
The occasion, the date, the customer's area, how many it should serve, tiers and shape, style and colors, flavor and filling, dietary needs, any writing, their notes, their budget range and any inspiration photos. Their email and phone are shared with you when they accept your quote.
How do I get paid?
The customer pays you directly, the way you normally take payment. You set the price and the deposit in your quote. We do not handle the money for cakes and we take no commission.
I bake from home. Can I join?
Yes. Rules for selling food from home differ from place to place. In the United States, cottage food laws vary by state. When you join you confirm that you follow the rules where you bake, and you can add your license or registration number to your profile if you have one.
How do you decide who gets a request?
Your area has to cover the customer, you have to offer pickup or delivery as they need it, the date has to be outside your notice period and not blocked in your calendar. Premium accounts come first, then the nearest cake makers.
Can I cancel?
Any time, from your dashboard. Premium runs to the end of the period you paid for and then stops. Your profile stays up as a free account, and anything over the free limits is kept for when you come back.
Is there a lot of traffic yet?
Not yet. We are just opening, town by town, and we will not pretend otherwise. That is why the free account costs nothing and your first request is free: you risk nothing by being early, and early profiles are the first ones customers see.
